Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Shockwave therapy is a non invasive treatment which delivers pressurised air to help in the healing of chronic tendon injuries.

A series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations are applied directly to the tendon and surrounding muscle groups using an applicator with a gel interface.

The treatment aims to increase inflammation in order to stimulate healing. Shockwave is recognised as a clinically safe and effective treatment for the following conditions (which are covered by most insurance providers);

Achilles tendinopathy
Plantar fasciitis
Refractory greater trochanteric pain
Calcific tendonitis of the shoulder
Tennis elbow
Patella tendonitis
Proximal hamstring tendinopathy

A minimum of three sessions are clinically advised, roughly one week apart to allow appropriate tissue repair.
All shockwave patients must have had appropriate referral and diagnosis with MRI/diagnostic ultrasound.
Self pay options available, prices available on request.
